Group Minicabs for Stadium & Arena Events

Booking one minibus instead of several minicabs for a group at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wembley, the O2 or Alexandra Palace — pickup points, timing and cost.

A group of six or eight heading to a match or a show at a major venue usually makes one planning mistake: booking two or three separate minicabs instead of one vehicle sized for everyone. On an ordinary night that's just less convenient. On an event night, with tens of thousands of people leaving the same postcode at once, it's the difference between everyone walking out together and four friends stood on different street corners trying to find each other by phone, with no signal, in a crowd.

This guide is about the group side of event travel specifically — how to size the vehicle, where the realistic pickup points are at London's biggest venues, and how to book so the whole group leaves on one booking rather than several.

Why one vehicle beats several for a group

  • You leave together. A single minibus means everyone gets in at the same spot, rather than splitting up to wait for separate cars that may not arrive at the same time or place.
  • It's simpler to coordinate. One pickup point and one booking reference, not three or four people each managing their own.
  • It's usually better value per head. The fare is per vehicle, not per person — for a group of six to eight, one larger vehicle typically comes out ahead of several saloons. See our group minicab hire guide for the real capacity split between a saloon, an estate and a minibus.
  • It avoids a known event-night problem. Stadium crowds degrade mobile signal, so "we'll just find each other after" is a weaker plan than it sounds at the time.

Sizing the vehicle for your group

A standard saloon takes 4 passengers. Beyond that you need an estate, MPV or minibus — see how many passengers fit in a vehicle for the exact limits by class. For a stag do, a work social or a family group heading to the same match or show, tell us the headcount when you book so the right size turns up first time, not a saloon that can't take everyone.

Where the pickup actually is at major venues

The venue's own entrance is rarely where a pre-booked car can reach on an event night. Confirming the real pickup point in advance — not just the venue's name — is the single most useful thing a group can do.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham High Road and the surrounding streets close to traffic on match and event days, and the closure extends well beyond the stadium itself. The practical pickup areas sit around Bruce Grove, Northumberland Park and the side streets east of the High Road — a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk from the stadium, but far faster than a car queuing inside a closed zone. Our NFL London games guide covers this in more detail for the October 2026 fixtures specifically.

Wembley Stadium. The stadium sits at the top of Olympic Way, a pedestrian approach from Wembley Park station that becomes a walking-only corridor on event days. Vehicle access near the stadium is heavily restricted for hours either side of the event. Realistic pickup areas are further out, around Wembley Central or the streets south of the stadium — agree the exact spot with us when you book rather than naming the stadium alone.

The O2. The O2 sits on the Greenwich Peninsula next to North Greenwich station, and on big show nights the roads immediately around it get busy with both drop-off traffic and the crowd on foot. For a group, agreeing a specific, less-congested meeting point away from the main exits — rather than "outside the O2" — avoids losing each other in a dense crowd at kick-out time.

Alexandra Palace. Alexandra Palace sits at the top of a hill in north London, with Alexandra Palace station down at the bottom. A show that fills the Great Hall empties a large crowd onto a limited road network around the building, so a pickup point agreed in advance — rather than trying to flag something down at the main entrance — saves a group real time after a big night, including on event nights with fireworks or late finishes that draw bigger-than-usual crowds.

Booking a group transfer: what to have ready

  1. The exact headcount and luggage, so the vehicle is sized correctly the first time.
  2. A single pickup point agreed in advance — a named street, station entrance or landmark outside the venue's closed zone, not just the venue's name.
  3. The return journey booked before the event, not arranged afterwards. Trying to book a car once 60,000 people are leaving at the same time is the most common event-night mistake, and it applies just as much to a group of eight as to a solo traveller.
  4. A buffer after the scheduled finish time. Shows overrun, encores happen, and the walk from your seats to the agreed pickup point takes longer in a crowd than it does on an empty day.
  5. A phone number that will definitely be answered, since venue crowds can affect mobile signal — a text arranged in advance is more reliable than a call placed from inside the crowd.

Our stadium and concert minicab guide covers the general mechanics of event-night pickups if you want the fuller picture; this page is specifically about doing it as a group.

What does a group minibus to a stadium or arena cost?

The fare depends on the vehicle size, the distance, the time of day and the event itself, and any price we show is an estimate — we confirm the final price when you book. For groups of six or more, ask about an 8-seater minibus rather than pricing two saloons separately; it's usually the simpler and better-value option. See our group minicab hire guide for how the vehicle classes compare on cost.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can a minicab drop a group off directly at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or Wembley? A: Not at the stadium itself on event days. Both venues close the surrounding roads to traffic, so the practical pickup and drop-off points are a short walk away — Bruce Grove or Northumberland Park for Tottenham, Wembley Central or the streets south of the ground for Wembley.

Q: What size vehicle do I need for a group of eight going to a concert or match? A: An 8-seater minibus is usually the right choice for eight passengers with normal bags. Tell us the exact headcount and luggage when you book so we can confirm the right vehicle.

Q: Is it cheaper to book one minibus or two separate minicabs for a group? A: For six or more people, one larger vehicle is typically better value than splitting into two cars, and it means everyone leaves together rather than coordinating two separate pickups.

Q: How do I avoid losing my group after a big event at the O2 or Alexandra Palace? A: Agree a specific pickup point away from the main exits before the event, not "outside the venue." Crowds and phone signal both make it harder to improvise a meeting point on the night.

Q: Should I book the return journey in advance for a stadium event? A: Yes. Booking before the event is the single biggest thing that makes the journey home manageable — trying to arrange a car once the crowd is leaving is the most common mistake groups make.
